A Fine Balance
Oil on Cradled Panel
Original is not for sale, but one archival fine art canvas print is currently available
48 x 24 x 2

This painting was included in a Kelowna Art Gallery "Preserves" exhibit curated by Maggie Shirley in the fall of 2015, and in the "Fences" show in 2018, curated by George Harris and Meghan Hunter-Gauthier at the Two Rivers Public Art Gallery in Prince George, B.C.

Small paintings are balanced within a larger composition to show close-up glimpses of life in special protected Woodhaven Nature Conservancy. These details are observed as if through the eyes of a conservationist. Neilson was interested in contrast and spillover between precision and flow - comparing the spirit and energy of the forest as it may have been seen and felt one hundred years ago, to the more scientific close section studies.
