What is the “butterfly effect” and what happens if the tiny endangered wild bee is left outside of the circle?

This painting is partially a still life study, but within an abstract and symbolic composition, for a series entitled "Circle Songs."

It is a meditation on heritage, permanence and impermanence; noticing small things we value and collect, as well as some we overlook.

The process started after swirling and deliberately dropping coloured silk fabric into a circle on my studio floor next to my easel. Then it continued with collecting, and composing a few small treasures; considering clues of where they came from or what lives they may have touched. The geometry, the micro, the macro, and the real; all working together, made this composition very satisfying and interesting to paint.
